Nu Wray Hotel *Currently being renovated, Carriage House rooms open*

The NuWray, established in 1833, is a popular three-story colonial inn on the Burnsville town square and is North Carolina's oldest continuously operating hotel. The inn has a rich history of hospitality, hosting such notable guests as Mark Twain, Thomas Wolfe, Elvis Presley, Jimmy Carter and Christopher Reeve.

The main hotel is currently undergoing a full restoration with plans to open in spring/summer 2024 with 22 rooms with en-suite bathrooms and a full-service restaurant. The restoration includes all-new plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and commercial kitchen, and is being completed with a sensitivity to historical and existing materials. Meanwhile, the NuWray has 4 double rooms available in the original Carriage House building behind the hotel, bookable through the hotel's website.
